First the CMMS analysis of Obamacare, which, we are being told, will save all of us money and stimulate the economy. Stop laughing. I’m serious. That is what we are being told by the radical leftists in charge of our government. Conn Carroll from the Heritage Foundation read their report and provides us with the CMMS findings: Obamacare: 1) raises health care costs; 2)causes millions of Americans to lose their current health care coverage; 3) forces millions of Americans to pay fines and still receive no health insurance; 4) causes millions of seniors to lose their Medicare Advantage plans; 5) places millions of Americans on welfare; 6) jeopardizes Medicare access for all seniors; and 7) worsens health care access for the poor.
Luckily, the Senate took that bill and modified it. Senator Harry “the war is lost” Reid [D:NV] got his grubby, corrupt hands on it and with some serious pressure from the White House crafted it into something his fellow socialists could be proud of. The CMMS issued another report this past Friday regarding Reid’s version. Once again, Conn Carroll provides us with the CMMS’ conclusions: 1) health care costs would rise by $234 billion; 2) 17 million Americans would be forced out of their existing health insurance; 3) 19 million Americans would pay $29 billion in taxes/fines and receive no health car in return; 4) 33% of all Medicare Advantage customers would lose their health care plan; 5) 18 million Americans would be put on welfare; 6) the $493 billion in Medicare cuts would force 20% of Medicare providers to become unprofitable thus jeopardizing access to care for all seniors; and 7) the explosion in Medicaid recipients would exacerbate existing health care access problems for the poor.
Sobering, isn’t it? Now here is the bad news: these CMMS reports are the good news, especially if you are a senior citizen or disabled American. You see. Government run, Nationalized Health Care cannot work. It simply will not have enough money or resources to provide quality care for everyone. Instead, it ends up providing horribly mediocre care for most. We know this because it has been tried in both England and Canada and has been disastrous in both instances. The Government in an attempt to make it work is going to “ration” health care. This basically means that newly formed Government Agencies or Boards comprised of bureaucrats will make decision on who gets what health care. Needless to say, the old and the disabled will not receive treatment.
Don’t believe me? Just ask Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because he is the brother of President Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel. Dr. Emanuel already holds two key positions close to the White House: he is the Health Policy Advisor at the Office of Management and Budget and he is a member of the Federal Council of Comparative Effectiveness Research. He will most certainly play a key role in Obamacare. According to the New York Post and Betsy McCaughey in her article: Deadly Doctors: Emanuel bluntly admits that the cuts in Health Care will not be pain-free. Instead, they will require changing how doctors think about their patients. Emanuel wants doctors to look beyond the needs of patients and consider social justice, such as whether the money could be better spent on someone else. Most doctors, of course, are horrified by this notion. It is not their job to consider cost when evaluating patient’s medical needs. Emanuel disagrees. He believes in the concept of “communitarianism”. In other words, health care should be reserved for the non-disabled, not given to those “who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens.” As for senior citizens, Emanuel does not believe that withholding health care from them could be considered discrimination. He says: “unlike allocation by sex or race, allocation by age is not invidious discrimination; every person lives through different life stages rather than being a single age. Even if 25 year olds receive priority over 65 year olds, everyone who is 65 years now was previously 25 years.” Be afraid of this logic seniors. Be very afraid.
Another key Obama advisor is Dr. David Blumenthal. He was appointed the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology. His job is too make sure that Doctors obey electronically delivered guidelines about what care the government deems appropriate and cost effective. In other words, he tells doctors what care to provide their patients.
In conclusion, if clear thinking Americans don’t stop these bills from passing and becoming law, all Americans will suffer the consequences of Obamacare, but none more than those who may need health care the most.
